Yesterday

My brother was home and I didn't get the chance to draw a lot. I've been sleeping too much these days, its messing my whole system. :(

Also, I am supposed to do a million different things, which ideally I would get done within this month but me being me, I haven't been able to get off the bed. :/ The brain is working so slow these days, its unbelievable. VERY hard to concentrate on anything. Doesn't have to math or rocket science. Brain's slow for regular stuff too. :'(

Step 1

to drawing again and beating the block: just sketch. Anything. Purposeless.

The bet

So Amal and I have been having trouble with studying and drawing, respectively. Must be obvious, I haven't updated here for so long. So this morning we made this bet. Or bet-like agreement. We would both try studying/drawing today. If she fails, she pays me 50 bucks. If I fail, I pay her the same. If we both do not fail, we order burgers. :D

Yeah we gonna get fat real soon. :|

EDIT: Forgot to add a lot of blood so updated that. :D

Tommy Miller

I've been doing a lot of reading lately. All five books of A Song of Ice and Fire series. Then the Spenser novels. :D Somehow, Spenser inspires me to draw more than a fantasy like A Dance with Dragons. Maybe because A Dance with Dragons inspires people to paint and I'm horrible at painting. :D

Trooper Tommy Miller walks into Spenser's office in Small Vices and they have a fight. Spenser breaks Miller's nose with his knee. Afterwards, he sits him on a chair and gives him a wet towel to hold to his nose while it bleeds. :D

Ah, this book. It always makes me draw. ^_^

High Heart

I have been busy with many things the last few days, none of which needs to be discussed here. -_- I'm a worrier. I worry. I'm still worrying. Anyway, the good news is I finally got myself the Wacom. The bad news is I'm scared of it. :|

Also, due to some complications I can't use it on the PC where I am more comfortable drawing and where I have my CS5. Instead I must draw on the laptop, which has Photoshop 7 and a screen that I'm not very satisfied with, color-wise. -_-

I'm reading A Storm of Swords. There hasn't been much of a storm of swords anywhere in the book, except maybe at the Wall. While traveling in circles between Riverrun and King's Landing, Arya Stark comes to a haunted hilltop called High Heart where she meets an old dwarf who has green dreams. When I read the woman's description, I drew her. ^_^

More lined paper

Here are some other sketches I made for the comic I'm planning. Lately I haven't had the time to do much since we've had house guests, my mom's still recovering and almost every electrical appliance that we need to use daily got busted in this high voltage surge our area had while we were still at the hospital. Then my internet connection stopped working, so that took a week long to get fixed.

I was trying to get some character sketches settled. Like I said, I've already decided what characters will be like. But I need to get the style I'm going for set. :) I'm going to crop the girls on the bench and work on their tones, just or practice. ^_^

Hospital sketches

Mom had some stones removed. Spent about 3 days in the hospital.

The ones below were made around the Surgery Operation Theater. Quick sketches of people who walked past.

New news!

So remember the weekly comic I was talking about? Well, plan's changed. Since making deadlines isn't my thing, I realized, I'm going to do a whole volume. :D Haven't decided how long it will be but this will be a continuing story, hopefully with sequels. I've started working on it. The characters, story and scenes are set. I need a name for the comic though. More later. :D

I hope it will be interesting. I'm so excited! :D

Anyway, here below is the main character's various designs. What I need from you guys is to tell me which haircut is best. :D

Since I'm not confident with my coloring yet, the comic will be only in grey tones.

So which haircut is beshtesht? :D

Azula

in action comic style. :D >.> I was drawing a superhero-like woman and she automatically transformed into the Fire princess. :D

I've been dying to draw a complete black and white picture for a while. :D

I still have my powers!

These past few weeks, I've been feeling like Amon took my bending away. :(

But I still got it. :D

4000 views!

Thank you! You are all very patient and so supportive. :) Believe me, it makes a huge difference, having readers like you. I also know how annoying it is when you're reading a series online and it suddenly stops updating itself. I follow quite a few comics myself and while my journal isn't half as entertaining or well-drawn, I know what it feels like to keep checking those pages again and again. Everyday I think I will draw something for the blog, but it never comes about. SO saying this a millionth time, but I WILL resume the journal.

I will be honest here and let you know that the reason I stopped drawing was because I noticed my drawing style had reduced itself to weird stick figures. Whereas it was so interesting trying out new methods with each page in the beginning, later it became more about the deadlines and just hashing up a page somehow. The humor started dying too. It happens. Everyone has their off days. I have off-months, apparently. :/

But I'm trying. I've been doing some reading and looking at other comics online more carefully, seeing the differences. I'm almost sure I'm ready now. The wacom will also be on its way soon. :) So keep checking here. Please. Thank you. :)

In more news, I am going to start a new project. I've been thinking about it. Its going to be a weekly comic and I'll talk about it in another post next time. It might actually turn out to be entertaining. :D Like they say, write about what you know. But more later!

And thank you for the views! ^_^ Your comments hearten me. :)

Black and red and green

and cigarette. Inspiration: Mad Men. I'll say she's a little too slim for the women on that show but as long as people see a connection. ^_^ This is not specifically a character from the show, its just what I drew thinking of the show. If you haven't seen Mad Men, you should. At the least, for Jon Hamm's kisses. ^_^ I bet Batman kisses like him. :D

Popcorn?

I'm trying to change things around me. The whole lifestyle. More drawing too, good news. :D here's a new sketch.

Hundreds

I noticed that my last post was the one hundredth post here. :D Amazing, how lazy I must be to make it to such a small number in three years. :( There should've been another zero there.

Here's a page I tried drawing for this drawing challenge called the Page 100 project. You take your favorite book, flip to page 100, and draw a comic page for whatever's happening in there. These are scenes from Jonathan Stroud's The Amulet of Samarkand. Comically, this book was perfect for the challenge. What you see here is the lineart for background images, overlay on rough thumbnails.

Probably the reason I never finished it was because I realized a lot of people won't understand the joke - because they don't know the characters, they haven't read the book. Also, perspective is HARD to get right. x_x I think as a comic page, this is my cleanest work yet. Nevermind the countless hours I put into it. Yeah, just one page. It just tells me I have some potential. :D

Forty Five

:D Hey those who still visit! Thank you for your patience! ^^

I have these weird phases when I can't draw. Its like I forget how to draw. Drawing a five second sketch starts taking up twenty minutes. This comic page is almost a fight between this weird phase and my determination to draw.

Not dead yet

Starting tomorrow, I will clean up my act and be a more responsible blogger. I will color the comic pages I have ready for so long, even if I don't make a breakthrough with my research.

Till tomorrow, here's an old sketch.

Still right here

This has been a week full of days like the ones when you want to die in bed, right there in the sheets. Sorry for the lack of posts. I'll make it up to you readers, I promise.

Forty Two

I promised five and only could put up three. I'm sorry. We had some guests and internet speed became very slow here. :/  Couldn't upload anything.

Forty One

'Looh' is the local name for the hot summer winds of the Northern plains of India. The looh is responsible for many deaths here between the months April and August. Its what some people call ' a heat wave'.

Forty

There can never be enough Tetris analogies. :D

Thirty Nine

Thank you for being so patient. On this April Fool's Day, I present not one, not two, but five comic pages. One by one.

Thirty Seven

Do you know how lousy it feels to have to stay alone when you're sick? Guess you do. -_-

Thirty Six

Hey! I'm back! I still feel a bit under the weather and I think I need to change my glasses. :| Anyway, here's the comic for Day 36.

Not back yet

I guess when I said I'll be more on time next time, I spoke too soon. I fell sick right after. :( Fever with the shivers and the aches. I have been lying in bed, watching TV all day to the point that I developed a new ailment: the TV headache. x_x Thankfully, we had a router installed so I can access internet from the bed. ^_^ I will be back soon, hopefully.

On another note, I have been working on my comic's story with help from the bro and the sis. Its going really well, and I'll start working on the script and panels in a couple days. Till then, here's an old drawing of Raccoon Woman. :D

Thirty One

Yay! :D

As promised.

Twenty Nine

How I draw people III

HANDS! Yay! I love drawing hands and usually put a lot of time into drawing them. Whatever I've written in this tutorial is the result of repetitively drawing hands on every scrap of paper I could find, for a whole year. The rules are self-made, so if there's a fault somewhere, forgive me.

EDIT: I've changed the image for better readability. Increased the font size. :D
